More on sampling

To give you a better feel of the ways we’re using sampling as discussed in my previous post, I thought I’d shoot a quick (well, not so quick) video on some instances where we’ve used sampling to add to our sound.

The video below is split into two parts. I hope you find it enjoyable!

Part 1:

Part 2:

Hahaha yay thanks for the video. All that gear is abit crazy though. At least in a band you spend like 1k on a guitar and everyone else spends 1k on their instrument but with e-music it looks like as if you gotta spend the full 5k on your part alone. :s

Really looking forward to listening to some of your church’s stuff. Wish you guys had more samples online :P I head the ‘We Belong To The Day’ one. Which is how I found Soma.

Actually you’d be surprised! You can do electronica on the cheap pretty well. Providing you already have a computer, the necessary bits of equipment aren’t that expensive. In fact if you go down the software route you can get away with just using some software and a single simple hardware controller.

For example if you used AudioMulch and – say – a Korg Nanocontrol you could get away with spending no more than AU$340. if you used free software like Jeskola Buzz (it’s a little more confusing and complicated but very powerful and completely free) at http://www.buzzmachines.com/ then that lowers the cost even further.

naturally of course once you get into it there’s an infinite amount of money you could potentially spend (especially if you get into hardware) but therein lies the tricky balance of restraint. that being said, it always amazes me how much you can get out of very little.

we’re hoping to post some videos of us playing some songs soon… watch this space.
